Thesis Statement
Following the Seven Years War, it was becoming clear to Chief Pontiac that the British were now setting their sights on building an empire west of the Appalachians. The establishment of Fort Pitt and smaller surrounding forts sent a clear sign to Native Americans that this was the case. Pontiac felt compelled to act and his responsibility to protect Native American rights led him to form a confederacy of tribes to make a stand against this encroachment. Pontiac's Confederation would soon wreak havoc on the western frontier. This website proves his actions were done to protect the rights of his people, their lands and their culture.
